Vietnam Wins Big At World Travel Awards 2024

Vietnam has again made a remarkable impact on global tourism, claiming a series of prestigious accolades at the 31st World Travel Awards (WTA). Notably, the country was named Asia’s leading destination, securing titles for heritage and nature tourism, while its capital, Hanoi, took home two major awards.

Special awards for Hanoi, Vietnam at the 31st World Travel Awards (WTA)At the event in Manila, Philippines, Vietnam was crowned Asia’s Leading Destination for the sixth time in seven years, surpassing strong competitors like China, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand. Vietnam also stood out as Asia’s Leading Heritage Destination and Leading Nature Destination, reaffirming its status as a top tourist hotspot.

Hanoi further elevated Vietnam’s profile by being named Asia’s Leading City and Leading City Break Destination. The capital, known for its blend of historical charm and modern vibrancy, continues to attract global attention as one of the best urban escapes.

Ho Chi Minh City - A the magnificent and modern cityMeanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City was recognized as Asia’s Leading Business Travel Destination and Asia’s Leading Festival & Event Destination. Its Department of Tourism also earned the title Asia’s Leading City Tourist Board for the second time, further cementing the city’s growing influence in the tourism industry.

Hoi An Ancient TownIn central Vietnam, Hoi An Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, once again clinched the title of Asia’s Leading Culture City Destination, marking its fifth consecutive win since 2019. Quang Nam province, home to Hoi An, was named Asia’s Leading Regional Tourist Board.

The majestic and lush nature of Moc ChauAdding to Vietnam’s list of achievements, Moc Chau, known as the “Green Tourism Gem,” was celebrated as Asia’s Leading Regional Nature Destination, while the mountainous province of Ha Giang debuted as Asia’s Leading Regional Cultural Destination. Ha Nam was honored as Asia’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination for the first time.

The poetic scenery of Ninh BinhCuc Phuong National Park, located in Ninh Binh province, won Asia’s Leading National Park for the sixth straight year, solidifying its status as a conservation haven. Competing against renowned parks in Japan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia, Cuc Phuong’s triumph underscores Vietnam’s commitment to preserving its natural heritage.

Vietnamese hospitality and travel brands also received numerous accolades, with hotels, resorts, airlines, and travel agencies being recognized for their contributions to the industry. The country’s consistent performance at the WTA continues to elevate its global standing in tourism.

Since its inception in 1993, the WTA has become the gold standard for excellence in travel, recognizing top performers in the global tourism industry. Vietnam’s consistent success at the WTA is a testament to its growing influence and prominence as a premier travel destination.
